Staff Reporter :Jamaat-e-Islami leader Muhammad Kamaruzzaman will file a review petition regarding his death sentence with the Appellate Division of Supreme Court today (Thursday). The Jamaat leader has instructed his counsels to file the review petition, Kamaruzzaman’s lawyer Advocate Tajul Islam said after meeting him at Dhaka Central Jail on Wednesday. “We met him in the prison and elaborately discussed the process of review petition. He asked us to file the review petition against his death sentence. We will place it tomorrow (Thursday),” he said. Kamaruzzaman has read the copy of the Appellate Division’s verdict and termed the allegations false, fabricated and baseless, Tajul said. He is of the view that the judge who differed with the other three judges about his death sentence was right, the counsel said. “He (Kamaruzzaman) told us that the Appellate Division judge Justice Md Abdul Wahhab Miah analyzed the allegations bit by bit. Had the other judges analyzed like him, he would have been proved innocent,” he said. The defence would file the review petition on 44 grounds, Tajul added. Apart from Tajul, the defence counsels Advocate Shishir Munir, Barrister Ahsan A Siddique, Barrister Nazib Momen, and Advocate Motiur Rahman Akand also met the Jamaat leader in the prison.
