The returning officer of Kalaroa Municipality in Satkhira district has been withdrawn on charge of violating rules and abusing power ahead of the upcoming municipality polls slated for December 30.
The Election Commission issued a notification in this regard on Sunday.

Abdur Rahman, the notification said Abul Hossain, returning officer of Kalaroa Municipality, accepted the nomination paper of Kalaroa vice chairman Aminul Islam for the mayoral post and declared it valid which is a violation of rules and a punishable offence under the Government Servants (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1985. Abul Hossain has been withdrawn according to the rules of the Section 11 (1) of Government Servants (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1985, said the notification.
