Kalabagan rape case Lone accused Dihan indicted

A Dhaka court yesterday indicted Tanvir Iftekhar Dihan, lone accused in the case filed in connection with the rape and murder of a 17-year O Level student at Kalabagan of the capital.
Judge-in-charge AM Julfikar Haider of the Women and Children Repression Prevention of Dhaka passed the order on Wednesday. The court also fixed March 16 to record the depositions of the witnesses in the case.
On January 8, 2021, accused Dihan made confessional statement admitting the offence under section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. He is still behind the bar.
Earlier, on January 7, the victim’s father filed the case making Dihan, lone accused under section 9(2) of Women and Children Repression Prevention Act.
On the same day at night, Kalabagan Police arrested four persons including Dihan. After interrogation, only Dihan was shown arrested in the case.
On November 8, Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) Inspector Khaled Saifullah, the Investigation Officer of the case submitted the charge sheet of the case to the court. He made Dihan, the lone accused in the case.
Magistrate Nivana Khair Jessy of Dhaka CMM Court sent the case to the tribunal for trial.
The case dossier says, on January 7, 2021, Dihan, who was a friend of the victim, took the victim to his residence and raped the 10th schoolgirl and killed. Later, Dihan and his friends took seriously sick girl to Anwar Khan Modern Hospital, where the physicians declared her dead.
