Kalabagan Krira Chakra Club President Shafiqul Alam Feroz, who was arrested from the club on charges of possessing an illegal firearm and drugs, has been placed on 10-day remand.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mahmuda Akhter passed the order when police produced Shafiqul in the court with 20-day remand plea in two cases.
Shafiqul was put on five-day remand in the case under Firearms Act while another five-day remand in the case under Narcotics Control Act.
Earlier in the day, the two cases were filed against Shafiqul with Dhanmondi Police Station, said Officer-in-Charge of the police station Abdul Latif.
On Friday, Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) detained Kalabagan Krira Chakra Club President Shafiqul Alam Feroz and his four associates from the club at night.
The members of the elite force also seized a firearm, bullets and Yaba tablets from their procession.
RAB detained Firoz, a central leader of Awami League front organisation, the Krishak League, and his four associates from the club late on Friday. The elite force also seized a firearm, bullets and Yaba tablets from their possession.
The move came in the wake of a massive clampdown on gamblers that started on Wednesday
