An all round performance by captain Mahmudul Hasan steered Kalabagan Cricket Academy to taste the first win in their 7th match of the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League (DPL) shocking Abahani Limited by three wickets with 19 balls remaining at Khan Saheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah on Monday.
It was the 3rd consecutive defeat for the title aspirant and star-studded Abahani Limited.
Winning the toss, Abahani Limited opened the innings first and scored a moderate 282 runs for 7 in 50 overs with opener Avishek Mitra contributing the team highest 63 runs off 82 balls, featuring eight boundaries.
National opener cum Abahani captain Tamim Iqbal scored 48 runs off 52 ball with three fours and two sixes, Mosaddek Hossain hit 42 runs off 40 balls with four fours, Indian fresh recruit Manoj Tiwary made 50-ball 40 runs with three fours, Nazmul Hossan Shanta scored 48-ball 37 runs with three fours and six while Abul Hasan made 16-ball 22 with one four two sixes.
Captain Mahmudul Hasan grabbed three wickets for 52 runs while Indian Jatin Saxena took two wickets for 63 runs.
Chasing a formidable total, Kalabagan CA, riding on a century by captain Mahmudul Hasan, reached their target scoring 286 runs for the loss seven wickets in 46.5 overs.
