Kala Babu, the prime accused of sensational Moghbazar triple murder case, was killed in a gunfight with Detective Branch (DB) of police in capital’s Wireless Gate area on Monday morning. Deputy Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Mahmudur Rahman said, “Kala Babu and his cohorts were preparing for mugging in the area. DB police rushed there as they have the secret information. Sensing the presence of law enforcers, they began firing at them.” “DB men also opened fire on the miscreants that left Kala Babu injured. He was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where on-duty doctors declared him dead,” Mahmudur Rahman added. He also said that two DB men were sustained bullet-hit during the gunfight and two cohorts of Kala Babu were also arrested. Asailants gunned down three people, including a woman, and injured another in a house at Sonalibagh in Moghbazar recently. The deceased were identified as Ranu Akhter Brishti, 28, Munna, 20, and Billal Hossain, 25. Brishti’s brother Kalachand filed a case against 15 people including Kala Babu with Ramna Police Station.
