Tender incident: Kafrul OC, five cops withdrawn

The Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kafrul Police Station in the city and five other policemen were withdrawn on Thursday on various charges, including dereliction of duty.
Masudur Rahman Deputy Commissioner (Public Relations) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police told The New Nation that Kafrul OC Wazed Ali was withdrawn on charge of negligence of duty.
The other policemen are ASI Wasim, constables Md Mostafizur Rahman, Shafiqul Alam and Pijush Chandra Pal of Raipur Police Station in Laxmipur district and sergeant Md Shafique of Sylhet Metropolitan Police.
Officer-in-charge of Raipur thana Rupak Kumer Saha said, the four policemen have been withdrawn for their negligence of duty during submission of tender documents at the upazila LGED office on Tuesday.
Local Jubo League leader Russel and his accomplices reportedly snatched away tender documents during submission of tender papers on the day in presence of police.
Sylhet Metropolitan Police said, Sergeant Md Shafique had been withdrawn as he allegedly beat up a van driver at Subhanighat police camp in the city on Wednesday night for not giving him Tk 500 which he asked for.
