Jute mill workers demand salary, bonus before Eid

Workers of Amin Jute Mills in the port city staged demonstration on Chittagong -Rangamati road by putting blockade demanding their arrear salary and Eid bonus before the Holy Eid festival yesterday.
The workers siege road from 10 am infront of mills under Panchalaish thana . During the siege programmes, the productions of the mills were remained suspended, a sources said. Following the road blockade , the commuters on Chittagong -Rangamati, Ctg-Khagrachari road face miseries to the maximum extents due to long road congestion .
 Police sources said the trade union leaders of Amin Jute Mills workers union are undergoing talks with the General Manager of the jute mills to resolve the matter but no result yet tobe ascertained till writing this report. Amin Jute Sramik League leader Abdul Alim told that the management is not paying their salary for the last 9 weeks . Until or unless, we receive the salary for two months and bonus , we will not suspend the blockade, sources said. The management of the public sector mills sought one week time for payment of the salary and bonus, a local sources said. On the other hand, labour leaders said govt has already transferred fund to mills authority but the management is lingering the payment process. Asstt. Commissioner of Panchalaish police zone Joti Khisa told that persuasion for payment of salary, bonus under process .
