Jute growers happy in Netrakona

Farmers are happy for getting good price with their bumper production of jute in the district.
Harvesting of jute have completed in all the ten upazilas of the district. The cultivators harvested over 48,447 bales of jute fiber this season in the upazilas.
Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) office sources said, farmers cultivated jute on 4,914 hectors of land with the production target of 43,138 bales of jute. Finally the growers cultivated jute on 5,390 hectors of land.
The cultivators get the bumper production as the government took jute steps including giving necessary financial assistance, training and ensuring proper supply of improve quality seeds, fertilizers and other agricultural inputs to the famers.
For easily separating and rotting jute fibers, farmers are adopting latest technologies to ensure better quality of the jute fibers, the office said.
Deputy Director of DAE Bilash Chandra Paul said the growers are
expressing their feelings of happiness after getting the bumper production of jute and its good price.
Capsularies variety of jute is being sold in local market at Taka 1,500 to 1,600 per mound (every 40 kilogram) and olitorious variety of jute is being sold at Taka 1,800 to 2,300 per mound.
The jute cultivators are earning more profits as the demand of the jute fibers and jute products has continued increasing across the country and abroad, the deputy director said.
Mr. Paul also informed that many farmers of the district have started showing their keen interest for cultivating jute on their farm lands including all of their fellow lands in next season encouraged by bumper production and price this year.
