JUTA forms human chain demanding safe roads

The Jahangirnagar University Teachers’ Association (JUTA) on Wednesday formed a human chain on the campus demanding ensuring safe roads and protesting violent activities during the student movement across the country.
Over 50 teachers of different departments took part in the programme
held on the university’s Central Shaheed Minar premises around 10:30am.
Speaking at the programme, Prof Anu Muhammad of Economics department described the placing of protesting students on remand as a ‘dangerous’ sign whereas attackers remained at large.
He also denounced the ‘torture’ on noted photojournalist Shahidul Alam in custody and the attack on journalists during the student movement for safer roads.
JUTA Vice-president Prof Rasheda Akhter, its General Secretary Prof Bashir Ahmed, JU Proctor Sikder Md Zulkarnine, Prof Alamgir Kabir, Prof Kamrul Ahsan, Prof Shamsul Alam Selim, Prof Mirza Taslima Sultana, Prof Shamima Sultana and Associate Professor Jebunnessa Jeba were present.
