Justice Nazmun Ara Sultana made new DG of JATI

The government on Wednesday appointed former judge of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court, Justice Nazmun Ara Sultana as the new Director General (DG) of Judicial Administration Training Institute (JATI) and the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs issued a gazette notification in this regard.
Justice Nazmun Ara Sultana, country’s first female judge, would replace Justice Khondker Musa Khaled, whose contractual appointment came to an end on May 20.
Signed by Law and Justice Division Secretary Md Golam Sarwar, the notification said the government has appointed Justice Nazmun Ara Sultana as the Director General of Judicial Administration Training Institute for two years from the date of her joining as per section 11 (2) of Judicial Administration Training Institute Act.
She would get salary, allowances and other benefits similar to a judge of the Appellate Division.
Justice Nazmun Ara Sultana joined the judicial service as munsif on December 20, 1975 and gradually promoted to the post of District Judge. She was appointed as the country’s first ever woman judge of the High Court Division in 2000. Justice Sultana became the first ever woman judge of the Appellate Division of Bangladesh in 2011 and went into retirement on July 7, 2017.
Adding another feather to her cap, Justice Nazmun Ara Sultana now became the first ever woman Director General of Judicial Administration Training Institute.
