The Appellate Division and the High Court division of the Supreme Court was declared holiday on Monday following the death of Appellate Division’s Judge Mohammad Bazlur Rahman.
The Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha declared the holiday after attending the Namaz-e-Janaza of the Appellate Division judge at the SC premises.
Justice Mohammad Bazlur Rahman died of cancer on Sunday at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University at the age of 61. He was buried at family graveyard at Chapainawabganj yesterday.
Judges of the both the Divisions of the Supreme Court, Law Minister Anisul Huq, Attorney General Mahbubey Alam, former Chief Justice Muzammel Hossain, veteran lawyer Dr Kamal Hossain, Bangladesh Bar Council Vice-Chairman Advocate Abdul Baset Majumder, Supreme Court Bar President Advocate Yousuf Hossain Humayun, former president of the Bar Association Advocate Khandker Mahbub Hossain, Bar Secretary Barrister Mahbub Uddin Khokan and other lawyers of the SC and others attended the Janaza.
President Md Abdul Hamid, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the Chief Justice, SC Judges, Attorney General, lawyers and Law Reporters Forum expressed condolences and prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul of the deceased.
