JUJA new body takes charge

The newly elected body of Jahangirnagar University Journalists’ Association (JUJA) took the charge for next one year through an installation programme on Monday.
Vice-Chancellor of the University Prof Dr Farzana Islam and immediate past president of JUJA Kamran Seddiqui handed over the charge on new President Joni Alam and General Secretary Mamunur Rashid Saikat.
Conducted by newly elected JUJA secretary Mamunur Rashid Saikat and Presided over by President Joni Alam, Vice-President SM Najmus Sakib, Joint Secretary Belal Hossain Rahat, Treasurer Syed Altefat Hossain, Office Secretary Mahmudul Hassan and Members-Fahimatuz Zahura, Shariful Kabir Shamim and Maudud Sujan took the charge over as the executive body of JUJA.  
The VC Prof Dr Farzana Islam addressed the function as chief guest while Dean of Social Science faculty Prof Amir Hussain, Dean of Arts and Humanity faculty Prof Kamrul Ahsan Titu, Secretary of JU Teachers’ Association Prof Kamrul Ahsan, Director of JU Central Library Prof Ajit Kumer Mazumder, Director of Student Welfare and Counseling centre Prof Raseda Akter, Director of Teachers-Student Centre Prof Dr Khabir Uddin, Dean of Mathematical and Physical Science faculty Prof Nurul Alam, Prof of Computer Science and Engineering department Hanif Ali and Prof of Statistics department Muzibur Rahman, among others, were present.
Addressing the function, the VC urged journalists to present objective news and vowed to extent the cooperation to the JUJA for enhancing facilities to its members.
JUJA also accorded a farewell reception to the immediate past President Kamran Siddiqui and Secretary Imdad Haque.
Later, the programme was concluded following the concluding speech of new president and a grand Ifter party at the cafeteria lounge.
Election to the 9-member executive committee of JUJA for the next one year held at its office at Teachers-Students Centre (TSC) on last Thursday.
