Judiciary now fully independent: CJ

BSS, Chittagong :Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha yesterday said judiciary of Bangladesh is now fully independent and nobody can interfere in it.He said, judge’s recruitment process in the lower court will be more transparent compared to the previous system.He called upon the students of law department of Chittagong University (CU) to be good lawyers for boosting professional life.The Chief Justice said this while inaugurating the Law Faculty building of CU as the chief guest. Law Faculty of CU and A K Khan Foundation jointly organized the function held in front of the Law Department.The Chief justice said it is the first time that a separate building has been erected for Law Faculty in any university of the country. He hoped the future lawyers who would pass out from the faculty will work for the welfare of the people and easing the sufferings of the litigants.He also called upon the students and lawyers to contribute their talents with humanity and true justice in protecting democracy and administration.CU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iftekhar Uddin Chowdhury presided over the function while Chairman of Human Rights Commission Dr Mizanur Rahman and Trustee Secretary of A K Khan Foundation Salauddin Kashem Khan addressed the function as special guests.Founder dean of CU law faculty and member of Law Commission D M Shah Alam, Supreme Court Registrar Sayed Aminul Islam, Chittagong District Judge Nurul Huda, Deputy Commissioner of Chittagong Mezbah Uddin and dean of CU law faculty Faruk Abdullah, among others, were present on the occasion.
