Judges could work for 2nd shift to reduce judicial backlog: CJ

Chief Justice SK Sinha on Thursday observed that the backlog of cases in courts can be reduced if the
judges and lawyers work for a second shift in the afternoon.
He came up with the call noting that about 30 lakh cases are pending with the
 court. The Chief Justice was addressing a reception accorded to him by Narsingdi Bar Association at Bar Association Auditorium in the city.
He also urged lawyers and judges to serve people to uphold the dignity of the law, saying ‘our duty is to serve not to make money’. Chaired by District Bar Association President Advocate Amzad Hossain, the reception programme was also addressed by Narsingdi deputy commissioner Abu Hena Morshed Zaman.
