UNB, Pabna :
Police recovered the floating body of a local leader of Jubo League, the youth associate body of the ruling Awami League, from a water body at Sharatganj in Chatmohar upazila on Monday, two days after he had gone missing.
The deceased was identified as Asit Kumar Bhadra, 40, son of late Ashwini Kumar Bhadra of Rajapur village in Pabna Sadar upazila and assistant relief affairs secretary of the district unit Jubo League.
Police and family sources said Asit, also a trader who used to live in a rented house at Shalgaria, went missing on Saturday afternoon.
Locals spotted his floating body in a ditch beside Sharatganj Kathgora Bridge and informed Chatmohar police who later recovered it.
Informed, relatives rushed to the spot and identified Asit’s body. Later, the body was sent to Pabna Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
Confirming the incident, officer-in-charge of Chatmohar Police Station Subrata Kumar Sarker said miscreants might have strangulated Asit to death over dispute relating to a financial transaction and dumped the body into the ditch.
