Nazrul Islam, Joint Convenor of Juba Dal in Narsingdi district unit has forcibly grabbed a piece of 1.63 decimal land of a Hindu family in Satirpara area under sadar upazila.
The real owner of the land was Bappi Kumar Saha, according to the recent court verdict over a case regarding the matter.
Bappi bought the land at Purba Brahmandi area from Sawpan Malik and Joy Malik with Tk 15 lakh on October 15, 2010. After selling the land Sawpan and Joy went to America, local sources said.
Nazrul used to live in the house as tenant and ran his aluminium business from
there. After few days, Nazrul claimed that he had bought the land from Sawpan and Joy, they said.
He forced Bappi to leave the house and filed a case against him mentioning that he had been living in the house illegally, they further said.
Bappi also filed a case against Nazrul for occupying the land by making fake documents. Bappi had shown necessary documents in support of his ownership, but Nazrul could not produce any document.
After examining the documents and witnesses, the court handed down the verdict in favour of Bappi.
“Despite the court’s verdict handed down in favour of me, I cannot stay in my house as Nazrul has created a panic situation in the area and his people threaten to kill me,” said Bappi.
He said: “Local arbitrators arranged arbitration over the issue but Nazrul did not attend the meeting.”
Azizur Rahman, 2 No Councilor of Narsingdi Municipality said: “The local elite on several occasions called Nazrul to settle the issue but he did not give any heed.”
Monjur Elahi, Sadar Upazila Chairman and BNP Vice-President of the district unit, said that the issue could not be solved as the Nazrul did not response the call of arbitration.
