FIFA World Cup Russia 2018 is knocking at the door. Thousands of football fans are waiting when the curtain of ‘Greatest Show on Earth’ will be raised.
Marking the ensuing World Cup Football, the shopkeepers and salesmen of sports kits are selling jerseys and footballs in the city shops. Some of the shops are situated at Bangabandhu Avenue and some of the shops are situated at the Maulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium. The fans of Brazil and Argentina are purchasing the jerseys of their favourites teams.
Najimuddin Babu, who is a salesman of Quality Sports & Fitness said to this Reporter on Wednesday last, ” We are selling jerseys of Argentina and Brazil. The price of each jersey (Made in China) Taka 500 to Taka 650, while the price of each jersey (Made in Thailand) is Taka 650 to Taka 800. We are selling 70 to 80 jerseys everyday.”
Babu said, ” We are selling Telestar Football also. The ball (Made in China) costs Taka 650 to Taka 800 each, while the ball (Made in Thailand) costs Taka 2000 to Taka 4500.
We are selling a number of 10 footballs everyday.”
Babu hopes they will sell more footballs when the craze of World Cup will tighten the city.
Rafiqul Islam, who is a salesman of Janata Sports said, ” We are selling jerseys of Brazil and Argentina. The price of each jersey (Local made) is Taka 150 to Taka 200, while the price of each jersey (Made in China) is Taka 450 to Taka 500, while the price of each jersey (Made in Thailand) is Taka 700 to Taka 1000.”
He said, ” We are selling 30 to 40 jerseys everyday.”
Mohorrom Gazi, a salesman of OK Sports said, ” We are selling jerseys of Argentina and Brazil most. The price of each jersey is Taka 600 to Taka 1200. We are selling 60 to seventy jerseys everyday.”
He said, ” We are selling replica football of FIFA World Cup Russia 2018. The price of each football is Taka 1000 to Taka 1200.We are selling 10 to 12 footballs everyday.”
Tamzid Hasan, who is a salesman of Galaxy Sports said, ” We are selling the jerseys of Brazil, Argentina, Germany, France, England. Of them, most of the fans are buying the jerseys of Argentina and Brazil. The price of each jersey is Taka 500 to Taka 1500. We are selling 100 to 150 jerseys everyday. The jerseys of other country are sold seldom.”
