Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Jahangirnagar University (JU) Professor Dr. Farzana Islam on Wednesday expressed profound shock at the death of Jamilur Rahman Jisan, a second year student of JU Archaeology Department.
In a condolence message, VC said ‘we lost a meritorious student by premature death of Jisan’.
His (Jisan) death is tragic for us as well as for his family members, the VC added.
VC also prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members.
It may be mentioned that Jamilur Rahman Jisan died of drowning in a pond adjacent to the JU Teachers’ Club on Tuesday while he was swimming with his fellows in the pond.
