A group of teachers, students and staffs of Jahangirnagar University (JU) on Tuesday formed a human chain on the campus protesting bomb threat to Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Farzana Islam in a letter sent from an anonymous source.
Under the banner of ‘Jahangirnagar University Paribar’ they formed the human chain around 10:30 am in front of the main entrance of the university. Among others, former Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof Farhad Uddin, Professor Abdullah Hel Kafi, Prof Hanif Ali, Prof A A Mamun,
Prof Abdul Mannan Chowdhury spoke at the programme.
Around 400 students, teachers and staffs of different departments took part in the human chain event.
On November 8, JU VC’s personal office secretary Amjad Hossain received a bomb blast threat letter sent by an anonymous source. The letter threatened to blow up the registrar’s building exploding bombs if the JU vice-chancellor does not give recognition to the employees of the registrar’s office within November 9.
