The registered graduate representatives’ election to the senate of Jahangirnagar University (JU) will be held today after a lapse of 19 years. Marking the election, the university campus wore a festive look as different colorful posters, placards, and festoons of candidates have been on display. Two voting centers-one at Social Science Faculty and another at Arts and Humanities Faculty of the university-have been set up, JU Treasurer and also the Returning Officer Professor Sheikh Md. Manjurul Huq told media. “We are now set to hold a fair election”, he added.
Contesting candidates under different panels demanded to ensure security on the campus during polling.
A total of 119 candidates are contesting for 25 posts as 4373 registered graduates will cast their votes in the election.
The last election was held in 1998.
