No change of schedule: Nahid: JSC, JDC exams begin on Nov 1

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid said, the Junior School Certificate (JSC) and Junior Dakhil Certificate (JDC) examinations-2016 will be held as per its schedule.
 “The JSC and JDC examinations starting from November 1 and will end on the 17th of the month. The results will be published within 30 days from the last date of the examinations,” Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid said at a press briefing in the conference room of the Education Ministry on Sunday.
Education Secretary Md Sohrab Hossain, senior officials of the ministry and chairmen of different education boards were also present on the occasion.
The Education Ministry organised the press conference after the Primary and Mass Education Ministry took the decision of not taking the JSC and JDC examinations.
Primary and Mass Education Minister Mostafizur Rahman said that his ministry would not take responsibility of the examinations in view of the extension of the jurisdiction of the Primary Education from Class V to Class VIII had not been officially recognised.
The Education Minister said, “We do not know the reason the decision. We have not had a chance to speak, but we will do so.”
The minister, however, did not say anything about the absence of the coordination between the ministries.
 “We are taking this in our stride,” he said. “We have got experience of holding the examinations and they do not.”
A total of 24, 10,015 students from 28,844 educational institutions at 2,734 venues will appear in this year’s examinations. Of them, about 1.12 million are boys and 1.29 million are girls.
Nahid said, “The number of JSC examinees is 20,35,543, Of them, 9,47,933 are males while 10,87,610 females,” adding a total of 3,78,472 examinees will participate in the JDC examination this year. Among the JDC students, 1, 75,219 are males and 1, 99,243 females. Since the introduction of the JSC and the JDC examinations in 2010, the minister said, the number of examinees continues to increase gradually in the examinations, which has showed a positive sign in checking dropout rate at secondary level.
