Dengue epidemic on: JSC examinee dies, 184 hospitalized

Dengue still exists and it took the life of one more patient in the country in last 24 hours.
In the last one week, hospitals outside Dhaka are receiving more dengue patients than those in the capital.
A JSC examinee died and a total of 184 patients were admitted to different hospitals across Bangladesh in the last 24 hours.
In Narayanganj, a JSC examinee named Abdullah (12) died of dengue disease on Wednesday morning at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital.
The victim Abdullah was son of one Abdul Hakim from Fatullah’s Hajiganj and student of a local school.
It is noted that Abdullah appeared in the JSC examination till Tuesday with his sickness.
 Meanwhile, till 8am on Wednesday, 65 new patients were admitted in Dhaka and 119 in districts outside Dhaka.
Dengue a mosquito-borne virus spreads among humans through its carrier, the Aedes mosquito.
The Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health services (DGHS) in a press release issued on Wednesday said that the number of patients currently undergoing treatment in government and private hospitals in the country would be 766.
A total of 112 dengue patients died in the country from January 1 till November 6, according to their own collected data. However, the unofficial death toll is reportedly 190.
As many as 309 patients were currently receiving treatment in 41 government and private hospitals in Dhaka, whereas 457 people outside Dhaka, the DGHS data said.
Since January 1 till November 6, as many as 97,193 people were affected by dengue.
Among those admitted, a total of 96,176 have been released from their respective hospitals and clinics after treatment.
