The Parliamentary Committee on Public Accounts discussed the annual audit reports of the comptroller and auditor general (CAG) on the licensing activities of Bangladesh Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (BTRC) from fiscals 2001-02 to 2009-10.
The recommendation was made on Thursday at the 29th meeting of the committee held at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban with its Chairman Dr. Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir presiding.
The meeting held detailed discussions on 12 audit objections involving Taka 2547,37,68,533 and recommended implementation of the decisions taken over the issues within the stipulated time.
Committee members Mohammad Amanullah AFM Ruhul Haque, Mainuddin Khan Badal and M Rustam Ali Farazi attended the meeting.
The committee recommended realizing the compensation for non-payment of levy charges by Ekushey Television for the allocation of frequency and radio wave.
It also recommended realization of Taka 24,74,23,404 mentioned in audit objections over incorrect estimation of area faction (AF) as per spectrum charge pricing formula.
CAG Masud Ahmed, Secretary of Post, Telecommunication and Information Technology Ministry M Faizur Rahman Chowdhury and other senior officials concerned were present at the meeting.
