The Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Industries in its 13th meeting discussed the progress of Balancing, Modernization, Rehabilitation and Expansion (BMRE) programme of Carew & Co. Ltd which is now under implementation at a cost of Tk 4657.47 lakh.
The meeting was informed that setting up of boiling house had already been completed and it was working properly. Other works of the project are now going on and the project will be completed on December 31, 2016.
The meeting recommended taking punitive measures against the people concerned if any irregularity is found during the inspection of factories.
The meeting also discussed Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation Bill, 2016 and decided to scrutinize the bill intensely in the next meeting.
