JS body plans more tourists for Nijhum, Hatia spots

The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Civil Aviation and Tourism Ministry adopted a Taka 49.61 crore project to develop the Nijhum and Hatia islands to attract more tourists.
The committee made the decision at its 9th meeting held recently at the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Bhaban here with its Chairman R A M Obaidul Muktadir Chowdhury in the chair, an official release said.
Committee members State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism Md Mahbub Ali, Engineer Mosharraf Hossain, Tanveer Imam and Sayeda Rubina Akter attended the meeting.
The meeting also decided to convert the ‘Probal’ and ‘Upol’ hotels of Cox’s Bazar Holiday Complex of Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation into five-star ones.
Besides, Hotel Laboni in Cox’s Bazar will be upgraded to international standard, the committee members informed.
Senior officials concerned were present at the meeting.
