JS body meet on risky child labour held

A meeting of the parliamentary standing committee on the ministry of labour and employment discussed elaborately about compensation for Tazrin Fashion and Rana Plaza victims and risky child labour.
The 10th meeting of the committee was held at Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban here on Thursday with committee chairman Munnujan Sufiyan in the chair.
The meeting was informed that each of 111 garment workers killed at Tazreen Fashions was given Taka seven lakh from Prime Minister’s Relief Fund and other sources. Besides, some 978 families out of 1136 workers killed at Rana Plaza were given Taka one Lakh to five lakh each from Prime Minister’s Relief Fund.
Protecting children of the country from risky child labour and ensuring their welfare, the meeting was also informed that, a total of 90,000 child workers got 18 months informal education with a six-month long skill development training from July 2005 to 2014 under Child Labour Alleviation Project of the Ministry of Labour and Employment.
Secretary to the ministry of labour and employment and concerned officials of Jatiya Sangsad secretariat were present.
