The parliamentary standing committee on Ministry of Planning on Sunday set the target to decline poverty rate to 22.5 percent by 2015and to 13.5 percent by 2021, an official release said.
The body also suggested defining poverty in an appropriate manner taking expert opinions from the economists and NGOs after holding detailed discussions on definition of poverty in Bangladesh and in other countries on the globe.
With President Abul Kalam Azad in the chair, the 14th meeting of the committee was held at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban.
