JEC meeting in Ankara soon

BD, Turkey FOC to be held in June

Bangladesh and Turkey are planning to hold the long-pending Joint Economic Commission (JEC) meeting in Ankara as soon as possible to strengthen ties between the two countries.
Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali, leader of Bangladesh delegation to the ongoing Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) of the OIC and also to the OIC Summit scheduled on April 14 and 15, met his Turkish counterpart and host of the CFM Mevlüt Çavusoglu on Tuesday in Istanbul.
They expressed satisfaction seeing the scheduling of the Foreign Office Consultations (FOC) in Dhaka in the early part of June this year, said a Foreign Ministry statement on Wednesday.
The meeting underlined the historic and cultural bondage between the two brotherly countries.
The two Foreign Ministers agreed to revive the dialogue process at all levels, especially at the political one.
They also exchanged views to strengthen cooperation in areas such as trade and investment, defence, education and higher studies and technical cooperation.
Foreign Minister Mahmood Ali invited the Turkish business community to invest in the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Bangladesh.
The Turkish Foreign Minister reiterated invitation to Bangladesh leadership to take part in the upcoming international conferences scheduled in Turkey such as World Humanitarian Summit and LDC Review Conference. It may be mentioned that Bangladesh is going to participate in the upcoming Antalya World Horticulture Expo-2016 beginning on April 23 next.
Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavusoglu warmly accepted the invitation extended to him by Bangladesh Foreign Minister to visit Bangladesh at the earliest opportunity.
