JS body for exploring new shrimp markets abroad

A meeting of the parliamentary standing committee on the ministry of fisheries and livestock on Thursday asked the ministry of commerce and foreign affairs to take necessary steps for creating new shrimp markets abroad.
The committee made the directive at its 29th meeting held at Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban here with its chairman Mir Shwkat Ali Badsha in the chair.
Committee members’ fisheries and livestock minister Mohammad Sayedul Haq, state minister Naryan Chandra Chanda, Mohmammd Golam Mostafa Biswas, Iftekhar Uddin Talukder Pintu, Advocate Mohammad Altaf Ali and Shamsun Naher Begum attended it.
The meeting discussed elaborately about livestock survey and insurance, freezing and preservation of shrimps and management, monitoring and progress of shrimp exports.
It also asked Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics and Livestock Directorate for taking joint initiatives for conducting a complete livestock survey that would be acceptable at national and international level.
