Members of Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Foreign Affairs Ministry laid emphasis on increasing cooperation between Bangladesh and France parliaments.
They made the remark on Wednesday while holding a meeting with a four-member delegation of French-Southeast Asian Parliamentary Friendship Group at the Jatiya Sangsad here, a press release said here.
Standing Committee Chairman M Faruk Khan and president of the friendship group Jacky Deromedi led the respective sides.
During the meeting, Faruk Khan sought French government’s support in resolving the ongoing Rohingya crisis.
Mentioning that an investment friendly environment is prevailing in the country, the Bangladeshi lawmakers urged their counterpart to encourage French entrepreneurs to invest in potential sectors here.
The French MPs lauded Bangladesh’s development endeavours and assured that they would be beside Bangladesh in handling the Rohingya crisis.
The other members of the delegation were Senators Simon Sutour, Philippe Mouiller, Jerome Durain and executive secretary of the group Anne Laura Saint Dizier. French Ambassador to Bangladesh Marie Annick Bourdin also present.
On the other side, standing committee members Gholam Faruk Khondokar Prince, M Habibe Millat and Nijam Uddin Jalil were present.
