JS body for controlling sand extraction to save aquatic lives

The parliamentary standing committee on Ministry of Forest and Environment Affairs asked officials concerned to control sand extraction from Halda River to save aquatic lives including Dolphin.
“In a meeting held on Tuesday the committee urged the ministry to take steps for controlling sand extraction from the River Halda to save the lives of aquatic animals including Dolphin and stop all kinds of activities responsible for pollution,” a parliamentary secretariat statement said.
The meeting also suggested taking proper steps for tree plantation across the country including Chattogram Hill Tracts during the upcoming monsoon.
