JS body for action against Hajj agencies at fault

The Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Religious Affairs Ministry held Hajj agencies responsible for cancelling Hajj flights this year resulting in miseries to Hajj pilgrims and recommended to the ministry to take action against them.
The recommendation was made at the 29th meeting of the committee held on Thursday at the Jatiya Sangsad with its chairman Bazlul Haque Haroon in the chair.
Committee members A.K.M.A Awal, Abu Reza Mohummad Nizamuddin, Syed Nazibul Bashor Maizbhandari, Mohammad Amir Hossain, Dilar Begum and Religious Affairs Minister Principal Motiur Rahman attended it.
The meeting discussed elaborately about this year’s overall activities of the ministry and recommended to identify the Hajj agencies responsible for doing mischievous behaviour with Hajj pilgrims both at home and Saudi Arabia. It also asked the minister to cancel their licenses and also make a provision to fine Hajj agencies at fault.
Besides, the committee recommended formulating a new policy considering the welfare of Hajj pilgrims by changing the existing policy on sending Hajj pilgrims.
It also recommended for sending more hajjis at government level next year and asked the religious ministry for strengthening its campaign for the successful programmes undertaken by the government.
Acting secretary to the religious affairs ministry M Anisur Rahman and others concerned officials of the ministry and Jatiya Sangsad secretariat were present.
