JS body asks CPA to expedite services

The Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Shipping Ministry asked the Chittagong Port Authority (CPA) to expedite its activities and services.
The committee with Major (retd) Rafiqul Islam in the chair held a meeting on Thursday at the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) when it advised the CPA to procure and collect new and modern equipment to improve and bring more dynamism in its activities and services.
Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan, also the member of the standing committee, attended the meeting with other members of the committee, including Talukdar Abdul Khalek, Md Nurul Islam Sujan, MA Latif and Md Anwarul Azim (Anar).
The committee recommended that the CPA prepare a draft project proposal (DPP) for procuring necessary technology and equipment for further mordanistion and improvement of the port activities and services.
The CPA was suggested that it take necessary steps to ensure security of the port and make sure that all the import goods are handled faster.
The standing committee told the CPA to take legal steps so it could recover its land from illegal occupants and bring the lands under its possession.
