Jatiya Party (JP) has nominated its Chairman Golam Mohammad Quader the Leader of the Opposition of the Parliament.
JP Secretary General Mujibul Haque Chunnu submitted a letter pertaining to the nomination to the office of the Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury on Thursday evening.
Currently Raushan Ershad is the Leader of the Opposition in Parliament while GM Quader the Deputy Leader of the Opposition.
Party sources said the letter of nomination was signed by a number of its MPs, but JP Chief Adviser Raushan Ershad, Shad Ershad and Selim Osman refrained from it.
Office of Speaker sources said that GM Quader was requested to be the Opposition Leader of the House instead of Raushan Ershad.
The decision of the nomination came when Raushan Ersahd called the party council a day ago.
Sources said such decision evidently shows a division in Jatiya Party.
