BSS, Dhaka :
Land Minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury urged the journalists to act as ‘Watchdogs’ in finding out irregularities anywhere of the country.
“I would request journalists to act as ‘watchdogs’ (observer) to reveal irregularities anywhere of the country. We will take action after investigation if we find irregularities.” he said.
He made the call on Thursday while addressing the opening session of the workshop on ‘Review of the overall activities of the land ministry’ as the chief guest in the conference room of the concerned ministry at the Bangladesh Secretariat here, a press release said.
“I am asking both my officers and you (journalists) to act without considering self-interest so that we could work together for the betterment of the country.” said Saifuzzaman.
Digitalization of land management is an ongoing process, he said, adding that the government is gradually bringing all land services under automation.
Responding to a question of journalists on corruption, the minister said, “Immediate action is being taken whenever we find authentic evidence of corruption.”
“Even we are notifying the Ministry of Public Administration in this regard, if applicable”, he added.
Additional Divisional Commissioners (Revenue), Deputy Land Reform Commissioners, Additional Deputy Commissioners (Revenue) and Land Acquisition Officers from Chattogram, Rajshahi, Rangpur and Sylhet divisions participated in the workshop.
Various land-related issues were reviewed at the workshop while participants presented their views afterwards.
