Veteran journalist Sheikh Rakib Uddin passed away at a city hospital on Saturday due to old age complications. He was 85.
He left behind his wife, a son, a daughter and host of relatives and admirers to mourn his death.
A permanent member of the Jatiya Press Club (JPC) Rakib Uddin was laid to his eternal rest at Azimpur graveyard following his namaj-e-janaza at the JPC and Quarter Mosque at Elephant Road in the city.
He made his debut in the profession in now defunct Daily Azad where he subsequently served as the chief reporter. Later he also worked for the United News of Bangladesh (UNB).
JPC President Muhammad Shafiqur Rahman and General Secretary Farida Yasmin issued a statement expressing their profound shock at his death. They prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members.
