Journalists in Jessore demanded immediate arrest and exemplary punishment to the killer of Daily Samakal journalist Abdul Hakim Shimul who was shot dead allegedly by Halimul Haque Miru, mayor, Shahjadpur Municipality in Sirajgonj.
Journalists and cultural activists in Jessore town formed a human chain and protest rally in front of Jessore Press Club on Saturday morning demanding arrest of the killer mayor.
The rally was addressed by Khairul Umam, president, conscious citizens committee (CCC), Jessore district unit, Fakir Shaukat, former president, Jessore Press Club, Mobinul Islam Mobin, general secretary, Jessore newspaper owners association, Monotosh Basu and Anwarul Kabir Nantu, vice -presidents, Jessore Press Club, Tauhidur Rahman, general secretary, Ahsan Kabir, former general secretary, Rukunuddaullah, Fakhre Alam, Noor Islam, Sazed Rahman, M Ayub, Habibur Rahman Milon, Mahmud Hasan Bulu, Nabanita Saha and Srabani Sur.
