Journalist Azizul Haq passes away

Journalist Azizul Haq died of cardiac arrest at a city hospital on Wednesday night. He was 73. Azizul Haq, who was special correspondent and chief reporter of now defunct The Bangladesh Observer, breathed his last at National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases around 10pm, said Quamrul Islam Chowdhury, general secretary of Jatiya Press Club, of which Azizul Haq was a member. Azizul Haq had been admitted to the hospital after he suffered a heart attack. He is survived by his wife, two sons and a host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn his death. He will be buried at his ancestral home in Narayanganj after a namaz-e-janaza at Jatiaya Press Club around 12pm. Muhammad Shafiqur Rahman and Kamrul Islam Chowdhury, president and general secretary of the National Press Club, expressed deep shock at the death of Azizul Haq and also conveyed their sympathy to the bereaved family members. – UNB, Dhaka.
