Journalist arrested in Jessore

Jessore Kotwali police on Sunday night arrested Ramjan Ali; Kuada Correspondent of Jessore- based regional daily Loksamaj, owned by BNP central leader Tariqul Islam from Satighata Bazar.
Confirming the information, Shikder Akkas Ali, Officer- In-Charge, Kotwali police station told The New Nation that the journalist was wanted in a case with the police station. ‘He was placed to a court on Monday,’ the OC added.
Talking to New Nation, Anwarul Kabir Nantu, acting editor, Daily Loksamaj told that Ramjan Ali was never been involved in any form of offence. ‘He was arrested on a false case as part of repression of freedom of speeches’, he added.
Arrested Ramjan is also the president of Kuada Press Club in Jessore.
