Bashundhara Kings’ Brazilian recruit Jonathan Fernandez left Dhaka for Brazil on Tuesday. Jonathan joined Bashundhara Kings in 2020. He had a good combination with his compatriot Robinho.
During his playing career for Bashundhara Kings, Bashundhara got success. But ill-fated Jonathan Fernandez got injury when he was playing in the semi-final match of the Independence Cup against Bangladesh Police Football Club at Bir Shreshtha Shaheed Sepoy Mohammad Mostafa Kamal Stadium in the city’s Kamalapur. He got injury on his left foot, while he was playing on the turf.
The 27-year midfielder said, ” I got injury as I was playing on the turf. The turf of Kamalapur is unplayable. But I am not thinking about that. I am thinking about my recovery. I shall take part in rehabilitation process in my country.”
Jonathan Fernandez scored seven goals playing 22 matches for Bashundhara Kings in the last edition of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football. Bashundhara emerged the champions of the BPL Football. He scored three goals in the outgoing Independence Cup Football. He scored one goal in the AFC Club Cup.
Jonathan said, ” Bangladesh is my second home. Hope that I shall return to here. I have gone to Brazil with some happy memory. I played for Bashundhara Kings and won some crucial matches and also clinched some title. Those are my golden memories.”
Before leaving Dhaka, his teammates gave him ‘ Guard of Honour.’
The players of Bashundhara Kings want to get him again after he becoming fit.
