UNB, Dhaka :
The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) on Monday approved a charge-sheet against eight people, including a joint secretary, for allegedly recruiting disqualified candidates to the Food Directorate.
The Commission in its regular meeting approved the charge-sheet against them, ACC public relations officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya told UNB. The charge-sheet will be submitted before court against joint secretary of
Jute Ministry Nasima Begum, deputy secretary of Public Administration Ministry Iftekhar Ahmed, director of the Food Directorate Elahi Dad Khan and five others.
On October 7, 2015, the Commission filed a case against 53 people, including a joint secretary and three deputy secretaries, on charges of recruiting disqualified candidates to the Food Directorate by tempering answer sheets.
The ACC dropped 44 accused from the charge-sheet as it did not find their involvement with the allegation.
According to first information report (FIR), the accused in collusion with each other recruited the disqualified candidates, taking bribe from them.
On May 5, 2014, 328 people were appointed as food inspectors to the Food Directorate. During the probe of the anti-graft body, it has been found that 44 of 328 candidates were appointed illegally.
