The Jagannath University Teachers’ Association (JnUTA) formed a human chain in front of the university main gate on Monday as a mark of protest against the ongoing arson attacks and bomb blasts in the name of blockade.
Several hundred teachers, students and employees of JnU joined the human chain. JnU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Mizanur Rahman and JnUTA President Professor Dr Ali Noor, among others, were also present.
The programme was conducted by JnUTA General Secretary
Professor Dr Abul Hossain. In the programme, the speakers urged the BNP and its alliance to stop the violence immediately. They also blamed the BNP led 20-party alliance for recent terrorism, arson attack and vandalism across the country.
JnU VC Professor Dr Mizan said, “Leaders and activists of the BNP-led 20-party alliance are attacking private and public transports law enforcers, transport workers and people indiscriminately in order to prove Bangladesh a failed state to the world’.
“Terrorism is not a means of protest in a civilised and democratic society”, he said.
He also demanded legal action against those who were committing crime and violence in the name of movement.
JnUTA President Professor Dr Noor said, “The BNP-Jamaat alliance has set shameful instances of releasing false statement with fake signature of American Congressmen and lying about the telephone call of Bharatiya Janata Party Chief Amit Shah”.
