The leaders and the activists of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) of Jagannath University (JnU) unit brought out a protest procession on Saturday, claiming that the arrest warrant against BNP’s Chairperson Khaleda Zia is a part of ‘conspiracy’ engineered by the ruling party. They demanded immediate cancellation of the arrest warrant.
According to eyewitnesses, the procession was brought out at around 10:00am from the city’s Roy Shaheb Bazar intersection led by JnU unit of JCD President Rafiqul Islam and General Secretary Asifur Rahman Biplob that paraded different roads in old part of Dhaka city.
JnU unit Senior Vice-president Jony Dev, Joint Secretary Omar Faruk Kawsar, and Joint-secretary Md Asadujjaman Aslam, and Joint-secretary Mizanur Rahman Sharif participated, among others, in the procession.
However, a Dhaka court on Wednesday issued arrest warrant against 28 leaders and activists of BNP, including its Chairperson Khaleda Zia, in a case filed in connection with arson attack during the BNP-led anti-government movement. The case was filed with the Jatrabari police station.
