JnU Chhatra Union places five-point demand

Leaders and activists of Jagannath University (JnU) and Dhaka Metropolitan units of Bangladesh Chhatra Union formed a human chain to press home their five-point demand in front of Dhaka District Parishod on Sunday noon as a part of their countrywide demonstrations to an end of crisis in education sector.
Chhatra Union central general secretary Anik Roy, JnU unit secretary Khairul Islam Jahin, and Dhaka Metropolitan unit office secretary Shamim Hossen spoke at the human chain presided over by Jagannath University unit president KM Muttakee and moderated by Dhaka Metropolitan unit general secretary Foyjur Mehedi.
Their five-point demand include: imposing surcharges on local and foreigner companies to remove educational discrimination in districts by increasing budget, ensuring full autonomy in universities, starting process of setting up alternative examination hall and teachers evaluation for national university, ensuring identical tuition fee system for private universities and ensuring employment after completing education life.
Addressing the human chain at Dhaka District Parishod, Bangladesh Chhatra Union general secretary Anik Roy said that “anarchy is going on education sector, through this five-point demand Chhatra Union started a new strike.
With this five -point demand Chhatra Union would start actualeducational movement with all students of the country.”
Khairul Islam Jahin, general secretary of JnU unit Chhatra Union said “in absence of autonomy in universities, authorities turned the universities in a kingdom of dictatorship. Taking no responsibilities they are running university standing against actual rules of university. Neglecting liberal education, authorities have been turning university as ticket counter in the name of job competition.
