JnU celebrates 14th Founding Anniversary

Jagannath University (JnU) celebrated its 14th Founding Anniversary on Sunday amid much enthusiasm, festivity and cheerful manner with the theme ‘Creativity and Innovation for Development.’
Marking the day, the entire campus wore a festive look, academic buildings and administration buildings of the university were decorated with colourful lights, graffiti, festoons and balloons.
JnU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mijanur Rahman formally inaugurated the daylong programme at 9:30 am with hoisting of the national flag and releasing pigeons, balloons in unison with the singing of inaugural song in front of the university administration building. He greeted people from all walks of life on the occasion of the university’s founding anniversary at the inaugural function and paid glowing homage to former student of the university and Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Later, a colourful procession led by the VC was brought out from the university’s Shaheed Minar premises and ended at the Science Faculty ground after parading main roads in the old part of the capital. Clad in traditional dresses treasurer, registrar, faculty deans, departmental chairmen, university teachers’ association, journalists’ association, teachers and students of different departments and teachers and students of Fogej School And College (IER of JnU) joined the procession.
After this, a discussion meeting and cultural function held at the university’s Central Auditorium and Social Science premises respectively marking the founding anniversary. Different noted bands including Aboltabol, Avikorsho, Travellers, Moner Manus, Black List performed there.
