Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police on Thursday said JMB suspect Hiron, who was killed along with another suspected militant leader Noman in a gunfight with detectives in the city’s Hazaribagh on Wednesday night, was directly involved in police killings of Gabtoli and Ashulia. Noman was Dhaka northern region operational commander of the banned group blamed for several attacks on minority groups including Shia and Ahmadiya.
Briefing reporters at DMP media centre on Thursday, Joint Commissioner (DB) Monirul Islam said based on secret information, a special DB team led by its Assistant Commissioner Md Ahmedul Islam conducted a drive in Kamrangichar area around 10:30 pm and arrested three JMB militants-Md Arman, Jahid Hasan Rana alias Moshab and Nur Mohammad alias Lengra Master. Based on their information, the DB Special team conducted another drive along with them in Hazaribagh area near Sikder Medical College Hospital around 11:35 pm where Hiron and Noman along with several others were holding a secret meeting, the Joint Commissioner said.
