JMB man gets life term in arms case

A court here on Sunday sentenced a member of banned militant group Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) to life term imprisonment for possessing illegal arms.
The lifer is Russel alias Tamim, 33, a resident of Joharpur Bakrir Char in Sadar upazila of the district.

Hasanuzzaman handed down the verdict after examining all records and witnesses, said Assistant Public Prosecutor Abdul Hai.
According to the prosecution, on July 14, 2015, members of Rapid Action Battalion arrested Tamim and Mozmmel from Bonbelghoria area of the district town along with a pistol, several documents of JMB and money.
Later, two cases were filed against them.
Earlier on March 13, the two members of JMB were sentenced to 20-year imprisonment each in an Anti-terrorism Act case.
