UNB, Laxmipur :
A Jubo League man was shot and hacked to death by miscreants at Gopinathpur in Sadar upazila on Tuesday night.
The deceased was identified as Mohon Patwari, son of Hossain Ahmed Patwari of Gopinathpur area. Locals said, Mohon came under attack by a group of miscreants at around 10:30pm when he was taking in the view of his betel nut garden near his house.
They at first fired shots at him and then chopped him with sharp weapons, leaving him dead on the spot.
Later, locals spotted the body that bore several injury and bullet marks and informed police and family members.
On information, law enforces recovered the body and sent it to sadar hospital morgue for an autopsy, said Sub-inspector Najim Uddin of Sadar Police Station.
The killers could not be indentified yet, he added. The victim’s wife Shahnaj Begum said Mohon had been in conflict with his paternal uncle, sister Saju Begum, brother Manju and neighbour Mokter Patwari over the ownership of a piece of land for several days. Shahnaj claimed that Mohon’s rivals got him killed by hired goons in the night.
