A case was filed against a Jubo League leader in connection with Wednesday’s two-storey tin-shed house collapse incident that claimed lives of 12 people.
Sub-Inspector Abdur Rahim of Rampura police station filed the case against Moniruzzaman Chowdhury, a leader of Dhaka city (South) unit of Jubo League and the owner of the tin-shed house that caved in at Begerbari Jheelpar of East Hajipara under Rampura thana.
The house was erected on a water body on bamboo pillars.
The SI filed the case accusing Moniruzzaman Chowdhury on Thursday afternoon, said Inspector (Investigation) Alamgir Bhuiyan.
Local people alleged that Moniruzzaman, who is also president of Jubo League unit of Ward No-22, constructed the tin-shed house showing his muscle power after grabbing the land. Earlier on Wednesday night, the government formed a three-member probe body to investigate the collapse of the two-storey tin-shed house. The probe body will submit its report within five days.
